Montealban

Get to know the archaeological jewel of our state built in 500 BC. Montealbán rises among the valleys of Oaxaca and shows us the majesty of what was once the Zapotec capital, considered a sacred city for its religious and ceremonial use, allowing us to perceive the essence of the culture that dominated this land, its architecture and symmetry are part of the beauty and example of the political and economic power carried out by the ancient Zapotecs of Montealbán.

San Bartolo Coyotepec

Visit with us this town where the ceramics are known for their shiny black color, a long pottery tradition that has its origins in the Montealbán period, in those times the production was of matte grayish tones, starting in the 20th century local potters achieved a ceramics in shiny black tones using polishing and burnishing techniques, listening to the artisans' voices about what being part of this tradition has represented in their lives.

San Martin Tilcajete

It is a town where art can be seen in every corner, from the streets with their colorful murals to their family workshops where fashionable figures come to life in fantastic shapes, these figures also known as alebrijes show a great variety of styles, forms and representations. The Zapotec belief tells us about spiritual animals called Donas and Nahuales, which are determined by our date of birth. In this town you can learn more about these beliefs and appreciate the artistic work of the local residents.

Saint Thomas Jalietza

It is a small and quiet town where the artisans of the region show you their elaborate cotton woven designs made on backstrap looms using a pre-Hispanic technique that is worthy of admiration.
